2023 Scholarships
NEW PROVIDENCE HIGH SCHOOL
Kayleigh Wilson
Kayleigh is a cadet for the New Providence Rescue Squad, where she puts in many hours responding to calls, being able to medically help patients to make a difference, both big and small.
She is a senior intern at the New Providence Presbyterian Church, where she can be a role model, spread positivity and create a safe space for younger students.
Outside of New Providence, she volunteered at the Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. There, she visited the intensive care and burn units where she continued to make a positive impact with the patients and their families.
Katharine Beck
Katharine reported to duty full of nerves and anxiety, questioning whether she was fit for the medical field. As she continued her volunteer work as a Probationary EMT her passion grew stronger, and she realized the work was inspiring and rewarding.
Now, she feels truly cut out for it and will continue to perform her duties including observing emergency care, taking notes, and vitals while offering reassuring words to a person in need.
She feels “it’s better to give than receive,” and giving up her time and service to others gives her a feeling of personal fulfillment. She believes she can make a difference in a stranger’s life and share a deep connection as humans living together as a community and society.
MADISON HIGH SCHOOL
Warintawn (Nina) Kornchanku
Nina embodies the essence of compassion and service to others. She has selflessly invested her time, energy, and talents into making a positive impact on the lives of others.
Nina is an executive board member for the Maasai Girls Fun, which supports Kenyan girls who were mutilated and forced into arranged marriages.
She is also an EMT for the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps and co-president of her school’s Interact Club as well as a volunteer soccer coach.
CRANFORD HIGH SCHOOL
Alexandra Muzzicato
Alexandra has participated in multiple volunteer activities throughout the community including as a Family Cares volunteer and volunteer at the Union County Food Drive.
She is also a member of the Rotary Interact Club, Vice President of the Diversity Council, and President of Building Bridges here at Cranford High School.
Most notably she has made a positive impact in the lives of the community as a volunteer cadet on the Cranford First Aid Squad.
PINGRY
Noor Elassir
Noor is a compassionate leader with a clear focus on helping to research, raise money ,and spread awareness for Leukemia and other blood cancers.
She took part in the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Student Visionaries of the Year
campaign to create more opportunities for researchers. Student Visionaries of the Year is a 7-week philanthropic competition for high school leaders seeking to make an impact in the fight against cancer.
She dedicated over 70 hours towards the campaign to raise almost $43,000 for blood cancers. She was also the recipient of the Research Mission Pillar Award.
She has shown that we can all make a difference in the fight against cancer.
SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
Bridget Lacerda
Bridget is a 2-time recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award, and one of her projects, Sew Sustainably, led to her joining the Somerville Environmental Commission and creating the now annual tradition of an Earth Day swap to keep items out of landfills.
She has made a positive impact in the community and embodies the essence of compassion and service to others. She has selflessly invested her time, energy, and talents into making a positive impact on the lives of others.
She plans to attend Clemson University.
